Phelps’ Bong Load Benefits San Francisco Food Bank

Phelps’ Bong Load Benefits San Francisco Food Bank

mn-cereal11_ph1_0499886318
“So, though Kellogg’s and their star spokesman hit a patch of rough water, San Francisco’s hungry just got thrown a life preserver,” Food Bank spokeswoman Gayle Keck said.

The San Francisco Food Bank recently-and mysteriously -received nine pallets of Kellogg’s cereal…Frosted Flakes and Corn Flakes to be precise. And yes, they were the remaining Michael Phelps ‘cover’ boxes that have been terrorizing families from grocery store shelves and warehouses.

The 8-time Olympic Gold Medallist lost the opportunity to renew his contract after the Keebler Elves spotted the oh-so-controversial photo of Phelps mid-bong load. So, Kellogg’s said no to renewing his deal but said yes to the Food Bank-we think. The boxes bearing Phelps, totaling two tons of cereal, were dropped off at the SF Food Bank without explanation. Kellogg’s has not admitted they were the donors, bit come on, we’re not that stoned that we can’t figure that the sudden appearance of 3,800 pounds of flakes indicates that someone was trying to get rid of ‘unwanted stock.’

San Francisco Food Bank executive director Paul Ash: “It’s a very tough item to get,” Ash said of cereal. “In the last six or eight years, it’s become very hard to get ahold of.”

And just like that, Michael Phelps-via his beautiful bong load- has forced Kellogg’s to feed a ton of hungry folks in San Francisco. Don’t it make ya just wanna jump-up jump-up and jump down…

Michael Phelps, His Bong and the Hypocrisy of Kellogg

Michael Phelps, His Bong and the Hypocrisy of Kellogg

phelps-swimming_584

Seeing as today is Bob Marley’s birthday, I though it would be fitting to give ya my two cents on Michael Phelps, his bong and the ridiculous reaction to his toke because thanks to Michael Phelps, the entire world now knows what a bong is. Yes, Phelps was at a party where some bozo snapped a photo of him taking a hit from a bong. Yes, bongs are used to smoke weed.  No, it’s not the monster-piece of drug paraphernalia rampantly portrayed in the media. It’s a pipe. That’s all. Its not going to turn you into a drug addict and it certainly doesn’t’ mean Phelps has a drug problem.  More importantly, it doesn’t mean that he’s a bad guy. (I do suspect if he were photographed smoking a joint there wouldn’t be so many starry-eyed fans gasping at the thought of their Golden Boy getting high.)

But alas, Phelps does smoke weed just as several of our Presidents have, most of our ballers do, and just about any artist with a gold record does. We’ve come a long way since Reefer Madness and I believe Phelps can usher in a little bit of understanding when it comes to the herb-if only the hypocrites would open their minds. First of all- respect for several of Phelps’ sponsors: SPEEDO, OMEGA and PURE SPORT have all said they support Phelps. Aside from the fact the he’s made gazillions of dollars for them-they get “it.” It being – it’s no big deal.

Perhaps the biggest hypocrisy comes from “cereal and snack maker KELLOGG.”  The company has reportedly said it will not renew a sponsorship contract with Phelps on the grounds his behavior is “not consistent with the image of Kellogg“.  Let me rephrase that- the makers of POP TARTS and FROSTED FLAKES don’t feel that smoking weed and their products mesh well. I’ll give yall a million bucks if you can find a box of Pop Tarts not located within arms reach of a bong. And what about the KEEBLER elves? Are you telling me they weren’t conceived by someone who was high? Pa-leeze. And do I even have to mention that the amount of sugar in most Kellogg’s products are far more deadly than smoking weed?

I also wonder if Kellogg’s had any issues with the fact the Olympics were held in a county which supplies weapons to rebels who are hacking off the arms and legs of children, raping women and burning villages. Yet I don’t see Kellogg’s supporting any of the athletes from Team Darfur? In fact-its looks as if Kellogg’s will soon be opening a manufacturing plant there? If they actually cared about something more than making money, they’d be sending those Keebler Elves to Africa instead of indirectly funding a war.

I’m also a bit miffed about the gratuitous ‘three month suspension from competition’ dolled out by USA Swimming. The sport’s (US) governing body said no “anti-doping rule” had been violated but they wanted to send “a strong message” to Phelps because he had disappointed so many people. HUH? Disappoint how? He still has 8 Gold Medals? You still enjoyed watching him swim, didn’t you? If the photo came out before the Olympics and he still won 8-what would the reaction be? Would you have ignored race number 7? Doubt it…When I young and got too starry eyed about someone- my mother was always quick to remind me: ‘They wake up in the morning with bad breath just like the rest of us.’ While her words were quick to kill many a fantasy-it always kept me in check. Michael Phelps has a god given talent in the pool. He is loved, adored and worshipped for these talents. And he also wakes up with bad breath just like the rest of us. He also gets smelly and showers just like the rest of us. And yes, he just happens to be one of the world’s greatest athletes who was dumb enough to get photographed while getting high…Phelps ridiculous ban from who-knows-what will end in time for him to get wet at the US Championships on 7 July-which act as a trial for the World Championships in Rome two weeks later. Hopefully, Phelps will behave himself and NOT get photographed drinking a glass of Chianti while there.

Let me remind everyone too, that Phelps laid down the $1M post-Olympic Speedo bonus to start his own foundation. “Thanks to a lot of hard work, some good fortune, the inspiration I drew from so many supporters around the world, and incredible teammates, I was able to achieve that dream by winning eight Gold Medals in Beijing,” said Phelps. “Now, my goals reach beyond the pool, to helping others realize their dreams, and continuing to grow the sport I love so much. I feel it’s only appropriate that I continue the momentum that Speedo helped to create, by committing my bonus to the establishment of the Michael Phelps Foundation, which I hope will help me inspire others to achieve their dreams, and give back to the sport that has given me so much.”

And that, my friends, you can put in your pipe and smoke.

Michael Phelps Smokes Weed

Michael Phelps Smokes Weed

Michael Phelps is heating up the newswire with some wonderful news…he smokes weed. Yeah, stop the press right? Our Olympic poster-child got caught smoking out of a oh-god-NO- bong! (I pegged him for a joint kinda guy) Someone at the party snapped a photo, Phelps admitted it was him and then apologized: “I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”

phelps_smoking_weed

His favorite artist is Lil Wayne and your surprised he enjoys the herb? Regardless of what side of the bong you smoke from, smoking weed is a victimless crime…more people are killed by drunk drivers every year than by stoned drivers. But you don’t need a lecture. The only person losing out here is Phelps. He’ll lose some sponsors and some fans, but come on people, he’s as close to godly in the water as one can get, he’s physically close to perfection, he’s a nice guy, STILL has 8 Olympic gold’s and he’s still the same babe you LOVED yesterday when he was making you money. The only bad judgment by Phelps was smoking around people with cameras

Who knows, maybe he’ll pick up a new sponsor? I mean, Michael Phelps just could be the answer NORML has been looking for.

Baron Davis: Part Two

BARON DAVIS: PART TWO

A little explanation about my previous post regarding Baron Davis.

First of all, I ‘buried’ the post on my own accord. I was not asked to remove it by anyone. And yes, all of it was true. I’m not afraid to say it, print it or confirm it.

I posted it simply to prove a point, to see if my hits would go through the roof. And they did. You all responded beautifully and as expected. (This excludes my regular readers of course).

When I write about the good stuff, charity events, hotties holding kids, giving back to the community etc, it’s not quite as interesting as an article about sex, drugs and ballers is it?

That piece on Boom is the tip of the iceberg compared to the stuff I see going on everyday. No surprise there. Without the sugar coating there’s a demon hidden among most of us.

The problem is that you-the ‘gossip rats’-(not my regulars)- lap-up valueless scandal over things I feel are much more important- I can almost feel Elvis Costello cringe as he sings the immoral words of Nick Lowe: ‘What’s so funny about peace, love and understanding?’ A motto engrained in my soul since he first uttered those words.

Granted, my blog wasn’t the forum for that post, but I assure you it wasn’t a rash decision to publish it. It wasn’t done out of spite, hatred, anger, or ‘oh I wanna be famous’, it was posted to prove a point. You’ve been mere pawns in the larger issue of what sells more books: Scandal or Charity work. Often times, in order to gauge the public interest, a publisher will ask a writer to run an article…so in this regard, I thank all of you gossip rats for inadvertently promoting me and my material. And before you say you won’t buy my book, you’ve already proven you will.

Francesco Totti Endorses New Website, Ronaldinho’s Asia Tour Summer 2008, Out With the Old Golden State Warriors-In With the New, Brian Clay is Golden

FRANCESCO TOTTI

A new website, Giovani, launched on Monday, with the goal of encouraging young people to express themselves on issues from politics to sex and sport. And who better to encourage ‘young people’ than AS Roma babe Francesco Totti. The new site allows users to upload their own videos, photos or other content, and encourage them to participate in forums of discussion…Totti shot a short video (that I can not find anywhere) in which he noted how important it was to allow young people to express themselves. “The silence of youth should scare us. We must not allow them to isolate themselves. Young and less young, should be allowed to speak about everything they hear and feel,” Totti said in the video message. “Come on youngsters, do not be silent. Speak, speak your mind.”

And in efforts to promote Totti’s message, here’s an older Pepsi ad featuring David Beckham and a young boy who wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. Priceless.

RONALDINHO’S ASIA TOUR SUMMER 2008

The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho, participated in a charity match in Venezuela last weekend, before heading to Tokyo to kick off his Asia Summer Tour…next stop: Seoul and Shanghai. And can you believe that the majority of Ronaldinho news is criticism over his weight? The critics seem to think he’s “hideously overweight” and refer him as the “little fat one.” After the charity game in Venezuela, Ronaldinho hinted that he might be saying buh-bye to Barcelona and hello to AC Milan? “Now I am thinking about working and returning to my level of play as soon as possible, it does not matter where,” Ronaldinho said after the game. “It was a beautiful story, everything that we conquered. The supporters will never forget it, just like I never will. Everywhere I go in Barcelona I am treated very heartily.” Ah- maybe avoid using the word “heartily” about now…

FRESH GOLD FOR THE WARRIORS

The 14th selection in the 2008 NBA Draft, Anthony Randolph (2nd-R) and second round selection Richard Hendrix® of the Golden State Warriors meet some children from the community following a press conference at ORACLE Arena June 30, 2008 in Oakland, California…love the new picks for the Warriors, they need some fresh blood, and with Baron Davis taking his ego to So-Cal, there’ll be pa-lenty of room for some good guys…within hours of the deadline on Tuesday, Baron opted out of the $17.8 million owed him in the final season of his six-year contract to sign with the Clippers and be to closer to the posee’s of weed stealing punks they got in Carson.

GOLDEN CLAY

Brian Clay won the gold medal in the Decathlon with a score of 8,832 during day four of the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials on June 30, 2008 in Oregon. Clay’s score is his personal best, an Olympic Trials record and the best score by an American in 16 years…which definitely earns him some love from this girl.
