Will Ferrell Sunscreen for Charity
Will Ferrell Sunscreen for Charity
“The bottle says it all. I’ve always dreamed of owning a lotion company.” Will Ferrell
Athlebrities’ favorite actor-comedian-golfer-tennis-pro and all around good guy, Will Ferrell, has once again gone above and beyond to ensure the success of Cancer for College. The non-profit organization, which grants scholarships to cancer survivors and amputees, has just launched a new line of sunscreens featuring Ferrell with all proceeds benefiting Cancer for College.
The Sexy Hot Tan, Sunstroke and Forbidden Fruit sunscreens mark Ferrell’s first venture into fundraising products for the charity founded by his college pal, cancer survivor and double amputee Craig Pollard.
“Some people are charitable with their money. Some are charitable with their time,” said Craig Pollard. “Will Ferrell has been extremely generous with both…we have been so incredibly fortunate to have had Will Ferrell’s support through the years. Creating this line of sunscreen products allows us the ability to use Will’s image to promote the mission of our charity, raise some valuable funds to help send cancer survivors to college and increase cancer awareness.”
“We are obviously appealing to sun worshippers, streakers, art lovers and the ever growing market of body-building golfers,” said Ferrell. “We hope that everyone will see the humor in this product and join us in support of a very worthy cause…I’m proud to be associated with such a great charity. I’ve watched Craig and Cancer for College help hundreds of cancer survivors realize their dream of a college education. The stories are so inspirational. I’m just happy to help any way I can,” said Ferrell.
The humorous packaging of the must-have sunscreens were designed by BogeyPro founder Arik Norby, who was asked to create the artwork and catch-phrases by Pollard who’s a fan of Norby’s wicked sense of humor (as evidenced by the bottles) and involvement with Cancer for College.
So don’t get burned this summer-lather on the ONLY sunscreen that makes you laugh and helps send cancer survivors to college. And remember, this years Cancer for College Golf Classic (September 18, San Diego) hosted by Will Ferrell is selling out fast! Tickets available at the Cancer for College website. Cancer for College was formed in 1993 by two-time cancer survivor and double amputee, Craig Pollard. Pollard was a fraternity brother of Will Ferrell at the University of Southern California. Since its inception, Ferrell has been a devoted supporter of the charity and has served as the celebrity host of Cancer for College fundraising events since 2002.

Steve Nash Signs Shaq’s Shoe
Steve Nash Signs Shaq’s Shoe
Steve Nash has put a smile on my face this morning. Not for reasons that I dream about, but because he’s starring in some funny Vitaminwater spots. My favorite, of course, is his XXX spot in which he declares he’s faster than sharks while going through a bevy of sexy-poses, “I am great. I’m just like you but ten times better.” Now, there are some ballers who’ve got ‘it’ and some who don’t. Comedy ain’t easy and Nash has nailed it.
Below is another priceless spot from Nash…the Sexy beast made a visit to the Vitaminwater headquarters one afternoon. While he was there, he noticed Shaquille O’Neal’s autographed size 23 sneaker on Marci’s desk…Nash decides to “make it better” for her by also planting his autograph on it. “Are you F*cking kidding me right now?” she says to an oblivious Nash…after the shock wore off, Marci decided to auction off the Shaq-Steve Nash signed kick and donate the proceeds to Nash’s foundation.
The auction is live and the bidding starts at $13.00. And I’m pretty sure-as are the Vitaminwater people- that this is the only sneaker that exists which is signed by both Steve Nash and Shaquille O’Neal…to access the auction, visit the VITAMINWATER group on Facebook and follow the links…or you may be able to access it via Steve Nash’s Foundation website. Good luck and happy bidding…auction ends April 13.

Finesse Mitchell Interview
WHY IS FINESSE MITCHELL SHOWING UP ON MY BLOG?
As some of you know, I also work with a site called Look to the Stars. Since I joined them over a year ago, I’ve been asked to conduct some great interviews as well as contribute some of our good-guy athletes to their growing database of celebrities doing good deeds. A few months back, I interviewed writer/director Amy Sewell about her new film ‘What’s Your Point Honey?’

- ‘The film puts a new face on political leadership by introducing seven possible contenders coming down the pipeline, while revealing inequalities that still exist today. Six years ago, with the support of the The White House Project, CosmoGirl! launched Project 2024, an initiative to get more young women involved in politics so that we could see a day when just as many women as men run for the highest office in the country – getting beyond gender to agenda.’
In my discussion with Amy, the idea was born that Look to the Stars start a ‘Honey’s We Love’ column where we interview men (Honeys) who stand for gender equality. Now, it takes a mighty-mighty-fine man to earn a Honeys title, so for me, it was a no brainer to get Finesse Mitchell on the Honeys list.
Finesse was a regular on SNL (2003-2006). He killed me then and he kills me now-without hesitation one of the best comedians we got around at the moment. He has a dating advice column for women in Essence magazine, has written a funny-yet informative- book called ‘Your Girlfriends Only Know So Much,’ has appeared in ‘Mad Money’, ‘Who’s Your Caddie’ and ‘The Comebacks.’ And after attending Chris Webbers Bada Bling (for the third year in a row) I noticed something remarkable about Finesse Mitchell (Aside from the fact that he is always at charity events).

I, like Finesse, love to sit back and people-watch. One thing that enticed me to nab him for a Honeys interview, was his interaction with his fiancée Jessica. Over the course of several days, I never once saw Finesse walk ahead of his girl. I never once saw him without her by-his-side. And when I say ‘by his side’ I mean both literally and as an equal. I’ve covered many events and seen way too many celebrities and/or athletes with wandering eyes, who treat their women like a ‘trophy wife’ or ‘arm-piece’ and walk ahead of them as if their women weren’t equal. This was not the case with Finesse. And after interviewing him, I know I was correct in my assessment of him.
Read the interview at Look to the Stars where Finesse explains his reason for the Essence column, what his guilty pleasures are, and what his ‘most treasured possession’ is.
