Chelsea FC-‘Right to Play’ Partnership Offers Mascot Position for Charity
Chelsea Football Club is offering the ultimate ‘fan’ experience to those who love the Blues…for one lucky bidder to ‘Be the Official Mascot Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience’ with 100% of the proceeds to benefit Right To Play.
International humanitarian organization, Right To Play, recently sealed the six-year exclusive partnership to be Chelsea Football Club’s first ever Global Charity Partner. …the Chelsea-Right To Play partnership is aims to raise in excess of £2 million over six years. The funding generated will support Right To Play’s extensive humanitarian operations in 22 countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Europes Hottest Soccer Players Coming to U.S.
Chelsea is Coming! AC Milan is Coming! Inter Milan is Coming!

Team Chelsea, one of the sexiest squads in Euro soccer, is coming to the States for the fifth time in six years-this time, as part of the inaugural World Football Challenge.
And it’s not just news about Chelsea making me squeal, its news that the tournement will host four international squads…Chelsea, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Club America. The round-robin style tournament will make stops in Palo Alto, Pasadena, my house, Atlanta, Baltimore, Massachusetts, and Texas…with Chelsea playing a friendly on July 18 versus the Seattle Sounders at Quest Field.
Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon spoke about the teams fan base here in the U.S.: “Coming here regularly has definitely helped us so far. Our fan base over here has more than doubled in the last three years and we are seeing a genuine interest in our team, our club and our brand from people in this part of the world.”
Indeed. It’s not difficult to take a genuine interest when Chelsea’s roster of hot babes include: Captain John Terry, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Deco, Joe Cole, and Salomon Kalou and others…and giving me reason to learn Italian, from Inter we’ve got: Luis Figo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marco Materazzi and AC Milan babes in serious danger of a chance meeting with me: Ricardo Kaka, Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo, Filippo Inzaghi, Ronaldinho, Clarence Seedorf, and Gianluca Zambrotta to name just a few.
The World Football Challenge begins July 19 where this crazy redheaded blogger will stalk Inter Milan as they take on Club at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, Calif. My next stop will be on July 21 when Chelsea battle Inter Milan at Rose Bowl in Pasadena, where you’ll likely find me trying to get into both locker rooms. Once the hotties have escaped California, the tour continues: July 22: AC Milan vs. Club America at Georgia Dome in Atlanta; July 24: AC Milan vs. Chelsea at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore-where I expect Angela to do me proud; July 26: Inter Milan vs. AC Milan at Gillette Stadium, in Foxborough, Mass.; July 26: Chelsea vs. Club America at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
If you just can’t wait until July to see the hottest soccer players alive, remember, you can catch most of them-and then some- in New York on June 14 for the ‘All Stars for Hope’ celebrity soccer game. This one of the biggest and best events for charity this summer…hope to see you all there!

Football Charities Ain’t Got Nothing on Futbol Charities
Football Charities Ain’t Got Nothing on Futbol (Soccer) Charities
Go ahead…enjoy the SuperBowl. Yes, there are tons of charity related NFL par-tays going on…but to me, most seem a bit insincere and more geared towards great ‘photo-ops.’ Of course there are exceptions, however, my (football) SuperBowl isn’t about helmets and hot-spots, it’s about voodoo, balls that unify, kids, and some mighty-mighty-fine men.

One of the greatest things about soccer is the global culture that surrounds it. While most of us dislike hooligans, their absence would leave a gaping hole in the stadiums and a lot of ‘police’ outta jobs. Make shift hooligan jails are a staple at World Cup qualifiers and games, so I was really, really bummed to hear RadioShack has bowed out of sponsoring a Mexican newspapers promotion which would have undoubtedly filled a few hooligan-tanks to capacity when they figured out it didn’t work…Mexico is set to play their World Cup Qualifier against the U.S. on February 11…Mexico has not beaten the U.S. on American soil in 10 years (and they wont do it anytime soon), so…an advertisement in the sports daily ‘Record’ invited fans to clip coupons and redeem them at their local Radio Shack store for a voodoo-doll likeness of a U.S. player. The hope was that a little black magic might help Mexico break a decade of futility on the road versus its northern neighbor. (AP photo) An illustration showed a pair of scissors slicing off the leg of a doll in a U.S. jersey; the doll grimaced in pain with its arms covered in bruises, as stuffing leaked from its No. 10 jersey, stuck with pushpins. The newspaper was hoping that soccer fans would watch the match and “apply punishments to our rivals,” giving Mexico an edge to end a decade of winless play versus the Americans on U.S. soil. “Help end the losing streak so Mexico advances,” the ad read.

If voodoo did work the way I’d like it too, I would win the lottery. No, I wouldn’t buy myself a house, or a new car…wouldn’t dare purchase a Prada, pair Jimmy Choo’s or any other pricey luxury good to make myself feel worthy…the first thing I would do? Join the Great Football Give Away…last November, a group of volunteers traveled to some of the most rural parts of Uganda and hand delivered over 3,000 soccer balls and netballs to the kids. And who says money can’t buy love? The organization is teaming up with Alive and Kicking to buy their Zambian made balls which have aids and malaria awareness messages printed on them…they’re using them to spread awareness about malaria-which is the number one killer in the country…And here’s where my lotto winnings would come into play…the Great Football Giveaway is looking for volunteers to organize and run future projects. If you can take a 4-6 month career break, they’ll help you with all the details-including fundraising, project management, putting a team together and hand-delivering the balls yourself to kids in some of the poorest countries of the world…I want to do this BAD so if anyone out there wants my beach front house for four-to-six months while paying for me to travel to Africa and pass out soccer balls to the kids, let me know. (And yes, I’m dead serious.)

Another one of my favorite charity organizations, Right To Play, earned a massive donation from Zdano Chara (Boston Bruins) after winning the NHL’s Hardest Shot Competition at the All Star Weekend in Montreal on January 24th…the mighty fine beast won the competition with an All-Star Record of 105.4MPH and then promptly donated his winnings- $24,000- to Right To Play…too bad the IOC can’t think out side the box…(Wow, Delinda is having a flashback to all the hate-emails I got after ripping the IOC a new one last year…hope ya’all paying attention now.)

“Excluding the athlete-founded, athlete-driven Right To Play from the Athlete’s Village is a firm step backward for the Olympic movement. Right to Play is a humanitarian organization that uses sport to teach children about teamwork, fair play, conflict resolution, self-esteem, communication, commitment, respect and integrity. We firmly believe that this organization improves the lives of children by strengthening their vulnerable communities with the best practices of sport and play. And it creates opportunities to promote development, health and peace. I believe this act of exclusion violates the fundamental values of the Olympic movement.” Adam Kreek, Olympic Rowing Gold Medalist 2008, London, Ont.
What makes me really, really sad-is that this incredibly moving and poignant video has been posted on YouTube for over a year and has only been viewed 3,225 times. What a sad commentary on society…in any case, we may be able to help change that by coming up with a catchy moniker to grab some media attention for them. RTP is running a competition to highlight the studly attempt of a student by the name of Duncan Drew, who will try to run 30 MARATHONS IN THIRTY DAYS this August to benefit Right To Play. This is a world record attempt and will be receiving a lot of media attention…so help ‘em out by coming up with a catchy phrase to garner as much attention as possible for this event. The more support Duncan gets, the happier the disadvantaged children in Africa, Asia and the Middle East will be. What should they call it?

Monday Mix: Camilo Villegas Charity Appearance, Ian Poulter-ized Me, Team Chelsea Versus AC Milan, C-Webbs Bada Bling
CAMILO VILLEGAS TO PLAY CHARITY EVENT
All you Camilo Villegas hungry fans, mark your calendars, because our kitten is gonna be crawling across the greens for charity…August 26, at Turning Stone Resort’s Atunyote Golf Club for the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge.

The Aug. 26 event will feature Vijay Singh, Mike Weir, Stewart Cink, Camilo Villegas, and Notah Begay III, in a skins format exhibition game. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Notah Begay III Foundation, which supports Native American youth sports programs. Tickets are $35. I repeat-tickets are $35.00 If you’ve been paying attention to what I’ve been trying to shove down your throats for the last few years-this is it. For $35 bucks, you can go to this event and get up close and personal with Camilo or Singh or Cink or Begay. The reason athletes participate in these type of events are two fold: One, they’re using their ‘fame’ to sell tickets to benefit charity. Second: They appear at these events to meet the fans- so why would you wanna fight the crowds at the US Open or any other major event, in hopes of catching a glimpse of someone and maybe-if you’re-lucky-nab an autograph or two? Seriously, I wouldn’t send you in the wrong direction. There isnt one athlete on the face of the earth that I’ve met at a charity event who wasn’t eager to meet the fans who came out to support the cause. Its pretty much a no-brainer, so hit me up after taking my advice and let me know how it goes…otherwise, you can sit in front of your computer all day and repeatedly watch this double-de-licious video of Camilo Villegas balancing on one leg atop of a ball while pumping up his biceps…
POULTERIZED

“I’ve known that I can perform well and play good,” he said. “I guess I am just trying to let that come out in me. There is plenty more in me and I know I can go better. It is all about winning so I won’t feel like this is my best result. I’m not going to hold a second place as high as some of my wins. You don’t strive to finish second, you strive to win, and that is what will make me practice harder and harder.”

Thank you Ian Poulter for giving this girl a sporntastic British Open and hitting your way to a magnificent second-place finish. My sexy flashkat teased us for nearly an hour with a possible victory, and eventually carded a (oh!) 69 to finish seven-over. “I don’t need to ride the storm of comments that get made and get taken out of context,” he said. “I’m just pleased I went out today and put a good show on. It wasn’t quite good enough because Padraig put in a hell of a performance and really did his stuff on the back nine.”
KAKA CHELSEA RUMORS?
As Elvis Costello’s ‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Chelsea’ runs through my brain I have to pray that it’s not becoming the theme song of the team. The rumor mill is churning out some fantastic dish on team Chelsea…Chief executive Peter Kenyon shot-down reports of a $238M bid for Kaka (the Brazilian World Player of the Year) and said negotiations with the Italian club had come to a head. “There was no offer made. I have read the same articles. They have made it clear that he is not for sale and we will make it clear we have not made an offer,” Kenyon said after arriving in southern China. “There is no reason to negotiate over something they don’t want to do and we have not made an offer.” AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliano also laughed at the rumor, “There has been no offer of 150 million euros for Kaka from anyone, even less so Chelsea,” he said. “These are urban legends that nourish themselves. Tomorrow someone will write 200 million and hopefully by September we’ll reach 300 million. I met with (Chelsea owner Roman) Abramovich, we asked about Sheva (Andrei Shevchenko) and he asked about Kaka but we talked about numbers and it ended 0-0. Real Madrid have also called about Kaka but he is staying with us.”

So, with Kaka firmly planted with AC Milan, the Chelsea babes have kicked off their pre-season Asian tour with the focus on raising money for the victims of the May 12 earthquake. Notably absent from the roster is Didier Drogba, who is nursing an injury that I wish he would have called me to help him heal. “Didier is injured. The doctor and our medical staff made a plan to have him training and playing in maybe three or four weeks,” new coach Felipe Scolari said. “But at this moment it’s impossible for Didier to come with us.” Thankfully, not everyone has bailed on Chelsea- we still got Frank Lampard doing his part as he dodges offers from AC Milan and of course, captain fantastic John Terry is doing his best to hold his squad together. “The players all want him to stay, but it’s down to Frank and the club to sort it out. We are here to focus on the football, but hopefully while he’s here the club can sort it out,” Terry said.
TOMKAT

Not really sure why this made me chuckle today…I don’t mind Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes or Baby Suri. And I could care less about what ‘religion’ they follow, to me, they’re not hurting anyone and they seem like a regular couple (aside from the millions of dollars, paparazzi magnetism or creepy rumors about Baby Suri being the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard)… but I do like seeing them pop-up on the sports circuit once in a while (as long as its not R-Fed related)…the happy couple are apparently in love with Australian MotoGP rider Casey Stoner, his sexy Ducati, and his questionable jumpsuit. The Tomkats met with Stoner before the Red Bull US Grand Prix in Laguna Seca. Valentino Rossi won the race, Casey Stoner took the second place and Chris Vermeulen placed third.
CHRIS WEBBER

Chris Webber took in the Detroit Shock/ Sacramento Monarchs game over the weekend at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan…and remember if you need something fun to do this upcoming weekend, get yourself to Vegas for C-Webbs Third Annual Bada Bling. Man-U Over Chelsea, Spike Lee Filming Jordan Bio, Artest Interviews Kobe, Phil Mickelson on Entourage, Cooking with Cowboy Jason Witten
MAN-U RUINED MY DAY

The first time two English clubs competed in the Champions League final…and Manchester United had to beat my Chelsea. Congrats to Man-U for taking home the trophy from a match riddled with rain, riots, yellow cards (8), the ejection of my Didier Drogba, a broken nose for United’s Paul Scholes, and the 42nd goal of the season for Cristiano Ronaldo. “I feel very proud for lads,” Ronaldo said. “This is everything for me. It’s a magnificent season for me.”

Maybe it was their shoes? Drogba and Ronaldo both wore Nike’s Mercurial SL boots-which claim to be the “most lightweight and innovative football boot ever produced.” Drogba, pre-eviction- on his kicks: “The new Mercurial SL defines the next level of football boots – it is like nothing I have ever seen before and I’m very excited to be one of the first players to wear this boot in the Champions League Final.” His United rival Ronaldo added: “Speed and acceleration are essential to my game; one second can be the difference between winning or losing the Champions League Final. This Mercurial SL boot is designed to provide the next level of speed.”
SPIKE THIS

Spike Lee is ready to shoot a feature-length documentary about Michael Jordan. The NBA will kick in the cash needed to finance the movie, while Lee’s 40 Acres & a Mule Film works will produce it. The documentary will include extensive unseen footage shot by NBA cameras during the final two years in Jordan’s career, the ‘01-02 and ‘02-03 seasons…and Kobe continues his trend of good PR this week during an interview with Ron Artest. Artests interview with Kobe will air on FSN’s BDSSP, Friday, May 23 at 11:00 pm. Artest and Bryant discuss hoops, fatherhood, Bryant’s MVP Award, his Nike commercial and whether he really did jump over the speeding Aston Martin…the interview was conducted earlier this week at the Laker’s practice facility…if you wanna read a fantastic interview with Ron Artest-and get to know who he really is-check out Michael Tillery’s interview with Ron Artest on the Starting Five- and you’ll undertsand why I will never speak ill-will of Ron-Ron again.

And David Beckham eating caramel apples with his son Brooklyn, courtside at the Lakers, will never get old.
MICKELSON ON ENTOURAGE

There have been some pretty great appearances on HBO’s Entourage, Kanye West’s two-minute cameo still remains the best, but perhaps the next great bit might come from Phil Mickelson? Big Phil spent two days this week taping an episode of the show, set to air in September, in which Mickelson is featured in a golf scene. Mickelson said of the show, “It’s edgy; the language is a little rough. But I just love watching that show.”
COOKING WITH THE PROS?

Rumor has it that Cowboys TE Jason Witten has agreed to ask his teammates and former Cowboys playa’s to appear on a new reality show entitled “Cooking with the All Pros.” Allegedly, the show will pair fans with players, and pit them against each other in cooking competitions. It is set to begin filming in late June. Five half-hour episodes will air in August on Dallas-based WFAA-ABC. The competition is expected to begin with nine contestants. The only upside I can see from the show is the fact that Witten’s charity, the S.C.O.R.E. Foundation, also stands to benefit as preliminary plans call for the public to be invited to bid on tax-deductible contributions toward the charity…and the top bidders will be on the show.
I’m taking the next few days off to enjoy the long weekend, the Monaco Grand prix and some much needed sunshine.

As always, thanks for reading.

Adidas 08 Dream Big, Kanye West Nike’s, Zinedine Zidane Kicks It for Charity, Max Mosley Still in Denial, Jennifer Harman Raises Big Bucks for SPCA.
DREAM BIG
Today in Germany, adidas launched its ‘08 soccer ad campaign, in which soccer players visit the national soccer teams from some of the world’s smallest countries in a film project titled ‘Dream Big.’ Those enticing us from the spot include Sir Golden Balls himself, David Beckham, Liverpool beast Steven Gerrard, Arsenal’s Robin van Persie, Chelsea hottie Michael Ballack and AC Milan legend Kaka. Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho provides the sultry voiceover for the spot.
ZIDANE PLAYS FOR CHARITY

The 35-year-old (former) France international soccer stud, Zinedine Zidane, joined a host of other soccer notables for a charity match Monday in Geneva. While he still loves kicking the ball for charity, he doesn’t regret retiring. “Not at all. I have been there and done it, and I have to do other things now,” Zidane said. The match was born through his friendship with Switzerland midfielder Fabio Celestini, who has launched 442, a children’s charity that aims to raise money to help disadvantaged children learn to play soccer…”I have met Fabio because our kids go to school in the same town,” Zidane explained. “It is a pleasure to play here and a good idea to give something to the kids.” If you need be reminded-Zidane is also a United Nations goodwill ambassador and now makes appearances for charitable causes. NOT FAIR

Francesco Totti shakes hands with Francesco Rutelli-a candidate in the race for Rome’s city hall…whatever, I don’t care who he is…its not fair to post photos of a half-nekked Totti in bed…just kill me now already…
KANYE WEST STEPPING IT UP

I think its official…we’ve seen Kanye in his ‘pastels and Bape shit’…and now Kanye West has become the first non-athlete to have his own Nike Signature shoe. West and Nike teamed up to create the Nike Air Yeezys. Kanye first wore the kicks for his Grammy performance in February but we’re just hearing about the details…in true Kanye fashion, the Air Yeezy’s glow in the dark. Still waiting on word about availability, price and release date…
JENNIFER HARMAN CHARITY POKER
Last year, professional poker player Jennifer Harman held her Inaugural Charity Poker Tournament for the Nevada SPCA. Thanks to her efforts, the event raised $130,000 for the shelter in Las Vegas, affording them the opportunity to open two new wings for the no-kill shelter. And on April 18, Harman hosted her Second Annual Jennifer Harman Charity Poker Tournament, which was held inside the Venetian Poker Room. Poker celebrities ‘giving back’ arrived at Venetian to walk the red carpet, but they didn’t walk alone. Each celebrity had a shelter animal with him or her. Former NFLer Shawn King walked the carpet with a cat dressed in feather boa and poker professional Phil Ivey walked with a kitten in his arms…for my complete write up visit Look to the Stars or to see the red carpet arrivals video, check out Poker News. This years event raised over $300,000 for the Las Vegas SPCA.
MAX MOSLEY UPDATE
My favorite sports scandal continues to march on…FIA President Max Mosley, who faces a forced resignation due to that nasty Nazi-style-orgy-video, now thinks we should all just mind our business. Mosley: “I think most adults would say that whatever in that spectrum somebody does, provided it doesn’t hurt anybody, provided it’s consensual, provided it’s among adults, provided it’s in private, it concerns nobody but the people doing it.” Okay, so I agree with that-what people do behind closed doors in their business, BUT-its not an issue of his privacy anymore- its an issue of tainting the sport. I cant event think of Formula One without thinking of Mosley’s and his Nazi fetish. His perversion is an indication of a larger issue-a lack of compassion perhaps?

Perhaps the biggest shame is that Mosley wont retire or even admit to the facts caught on tape. Watch the video (link below) and you’ll see the controversy before laughing as you read his denial: “It’s outrageous, because the whole thing was predicated around the idea that this was some sort of Nazi orgy,” he said. “And the Nazi aspect of that is absolutely untrue. In fact it was a deliberate, cold-blooded, calculated lie, to which there’s no basis at all. So that was really annoying because obviously the main subject was embarrassing to say the least, but to have the Nazi connotation placed on it when it was completely untrue was extremely annoying.” Interesting that the women in the video tell a very different story. One of the ‘girls’ told how Mosley, 67—son of Britain’s notorious wartime fascist leader Sir Oswald—ordered her to dress up in German military uniform and bark orders at him as he was flogged till he bled. He also bellowed orders in German and spoke English in a bizarre German accent during the five-hour S & M orgy in a London dungeon. She told New of the World: “He filmed the whole thing on video camera to enjoy again later. And it’s not the first time he’s hired us to satisfy his kinky lust.” For all the details, or if you really wanna watch Mosley getting flogged in the video, visit New of the World.

Juventus-Parma Postponed Due to Death, Sixers Walk for Autism, Carmelo Anthony Cake-Gate, Beach Soccer World Cup, Chelsea Putting Pressure on Man-U.
JUVENTUS V PARMA POSTPONED

If you wanna dodge your chances of becoming Italian roadkill, I suggest you avoid soccer games and rest stops. The Juventus VS Parma match was postponed Sunday after a Parma fan was run over and killed by a bus at a highway rest stop. The 28-year-old fan, Matteo Bagnaresi, was run over by a bus apparently carrying Juve fans to the match. Both teams released the following statement: “Juventus and Parma, with the approval of the appropriate authorities, have decided to postpone the game as a sign of mourning for the incident involving the Parma fan that was traveling to the Turin stadium,” the statement said. “Since it was a tragic fatality, the two clubs decided that the conditions were not right to send the teams out on the field.” Hmm, not sure what’s going on with the rest stops in Italy, but remember last November? A Lazio fan was shot and killed by a cop at a highway rest stop, sparking riots throughout the country.
WHO KNEW?

April is Austism awareness month? If it weren’t for Sixers ambassador World B. Free or sexy beast Andre Iguodala stretching and talking to kids, I may have missed this beautiful tidbit buried under scores and stats…the Philadelphia 76ers are going to participate the first annual Autism Speaks Walk Night fundraiser (Walk Now for Autism) on Wednesday, April 9…and HeARTs for Autism is promoting the 76ERs game on Saturday April 5, 2008 for an awareness, resource and fundraising event. Today, all the hotties wore specially designed practice jerseys that will be signed, donated and later auctioned off for Autism Speaks as part of the event on April 9.
MELO OUT

So another mouthwatering event went down on the 28th. My beautiful Melo…Carmelt-in-my-mouth…Sweet Melon…Carmelo Anthony…coached a team of kids belonging to servicemen currently deployed in Iraq…and once again it leads me to beg the question: Anyone got a kid I can borrow? At least maybe I could have finagled my way into Melo’s sons birthday party? Baby Kiyan turned 1 on March 7th…but looks as if daddy Melo might need a new chef? Daniel Paul Young was en route to baby K’s bday party on March 15, when the po-po pulled him over for running a stop sign. He had a suspended license, no proof of insurance and was behind on child support-so obviously, Young was taken to jail. But in the back of his car was baby K’s bday cake: Officer Michael Broadhead recounted to tragic event: “He said, ‘Can I have someone come by and pick up the cake?’ ” Broadhead said. ” ‘It’s supposed to go to Carmelo Anthony’s son’s birthday.’ “The officer said, ‘sure.’ ” Someone made a phone call, a friend stopped by “and we released the cake to the guy,” Broadhead said. Young was released on $1,000 bond the next day. And oddly enough, this bozo has been credited with improving Melo’s diet? ‘He has prepared foods that fit nicely into Baltimore-reared Anthony’s routine, lower-fat higher-protein versions of crab cakes, stuffed chicken breasts and the like. The goal is to keep Anthony at about 8 percent body fat as he grinds through the long basketball season.’ Pa-leeze, I got your 8-percent-high-protein-low-fat-version of a crab cake right here Melo.
FIFA BEACH SOCCER WORLD CUP

Anyone catch the action as Senegal beat Cameroon in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 Qualifier Final at the Bay of Plenty Beach in Durban? (Didn’t think so) Finalists will represent their respective countries in the upcoming World Cup tournament in France later this year…my money is on Senegal who crushed Cameroon 12-6 while being crowned the new African champions.
IT AIN’T OVER YET

Chelsea beat Middlesbrough 1-0 to cut Manchester United’s lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League table to five points…
