One-of-a-Kind Ukulele Signed by Surfing Champion Joel Parkinson, Jack Johnson and 33 Legends
An amazing ukulele and celebrity signed guitar have come up on the eBay Auction Cause store. The nonprofit Guitars in the Classroom has collected the signatures of the “Stars, Icons and Legends of The Surfing World” on this Kohala Kanikapila-style concert ukulele and a Fender Classic Vibe Telecaster to raise funds for their programs to bring music into education. It used to be when a company launched you didn’t hear a peep about charity work or foundations…but times are changing in a good way and we need to bring back those ‘Skateboarding is not a crime’ stickers. For those outside the world of extreme sports and skate rats, Tony Hawk’s name reigns supreme when you talk charity and skateboarding…but take note, he’s not the only one doing good with wheels….
In March of this year, two mighty-mighty fine men from Arizona launched the Hobo Skate Company…Chad Swensen and Jared Hancock…both have competed in extreme sports and both have a passion for helping others while building Hobo Skate as one of the most recognized brands in the extreme skate market.
From their website: Hobo Skate Company, Inc. is the world’s leading social cause extreme sports company, which designs, produces and distributes a superior mix of branded skate gear, accessories, apparel and footwear. The company’s product sales fund the Hobo Foundation, which provides much needed assistance to homeless families around the world.
Think they are all talk? Think again…the company has just sold its first item for charity- a skate deck that sold for $1,500 at the ‘Project Book Babe’ cancer fundraiser in Tempe, Arizona put together by Stephenie Meyer of ‘Twilight’ fame and other top selling authors.
“Skateboarding is a culture that was born and thrives on the streets in cities of all sizes around the world,” said Chad Swensen, co-founder of Hobo Skate Company. “Our motto is ‘We share the same streets’ with our growing number of friends who have found hard times. Hobo is a way for skateboarders to combine their passion for the sport and take ownership in an important social cause.”

I’ve met him, squeezed him, kissed him, smelled him and asked him to crawl for me…and now, it’s your chance. The kitten of which I speak of is-of course- Camilo Villegas. If your ovaries just did a back flip, then have I got an auction for you…
Our kitten is participating in the ‘Caddy for a Cure’ program where’s he’s put himself on the ‘I need a caddy” list auction. The auction is for an opportunity to caddy for PGA Tour player, Camilo Villegas, at the FedExCup Playoffs event, the Deutsche Bank Championship. The Deutsche Bank Championship will be held at the TPC of Boston in Norton, MA September 1 thru September 7, 2009. The caddy date will be Thursday, September 3rd.
Aside from touching the most ripped player in the PGA and getting an up close and personal look at his J. Lindberg belt buckle-er, I mean clothing- the winner of the auction will walk Inside the Ropes and be his caddy for a day. No golf knowledge is necessary…as I’m sure you’ll be given plenty of advise on which ‘wood, club, iron, driver, whatever’ the beast needs for any given shot. After all, even someone with knowledge of the clubs is likely to become distracted by Camilo’s biceps.
The winner of the auction will start the day by meeting up with Camilo when he arrives to warm up on the putting green…then you’re off to begin your day of heavenly bliss…you’ll be within hugs reach as he hit balls, crawls, stretches, swaggers, scores and slinks along the course.
According to the auction “you will get to know the PGA Tour player like never before with a chance to walk the tournament golf course, side by side with him, chatting about some of the great experiences of his career and wins on Tour” and you’ll even get to ask him about Delinda and why he (a-hem) still hasn’t answered her request for information about his Foundation. (Sorry Cam, you know I love ya but your PR peeps suck hard and I’ve got no problem saying so.)
In any case, it’s all for a good cause. Caddy For A Cure is an amazing organization that aims to increase awareness of and contribute toward finding effective treatments and a cure for Fanconi anemia, while contributing toward the awareness, education, and cures for many nationally recognized diseases and social and educational issues. They do all this by offering one-of-a-kind sports fantasies to caddy for PGA TOUR players in official practice rounds of PGA TOUR events.
And while I’m not a big fan of posting info about our hotties personal life, I do see that many of you are searching for information about whether or not Camilo Villegas has a girlfriend. The last time I checked, Camilo was very much involved with someone. They’ve been together for a while…so unless they’ve broken up, our Kitten is smitten. Sorry to burst your bubble…but I gotta say she’s a really nice girl…and no, I ain’t printing her name. (I’m sure you can find it somewhere else on the web)….

Hard Hats and Hotties for Charity?
Love this one…Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity is auctioning off autographed hard hats for charity… more than 70 hats have been signed and donated for the charity auction…bid on hard hats signed by such artists/humanitarians as U2, Ricky Martin, Justin Timberlake, The Jonas Brothers and more… while there are no “athlete” signed hard hats on the chopping block, I can’t resist anything Bono related, especially when I see him swinging a hammer and building a house. Ditto goes for Ricky Martin.
“I have had the chance to personally give the keys to several families moving into homes sponsored by the Ricky Martin Foundation in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, an organization I’ve been involved with for many years. I’ve been fortunate enough to see with my own eyes the difference a home makes in the life of a child,” said Ricky Martin. “Now, by simply bidding on an item in an auction, you have the chance to change lives and build hope.”
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles launched the online auction today at Clothes Off Our Back…the auction will run through March 6th at 5:00 pm PST with 100% of the proceeds helping to build more affordable homes in Greater Los Angeles. “Through our non-profit organization, Music for Relief, and our ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity we have had the opportunity to not only sponsor homes, but also to go and build the houses ourselves, and to meet the families that were moving into them,” said Dave “Phoenix” Farrell of Linkin Park. “We hope this hardhat auction will raise awareness for Habitat’s mission and help raise funds for families in need.”
