Ryan Lochte: Behind the Medals

When’s he’s not winning gold medals, dethroning a ‘golden child’ or flashing those dimples, Olympic Gold Medalist Ryan Lochte (pronounced Lok-Tee) does much more than just dazzle in a Speedo.

With seven (and counting) Olympic medals under his suit and the worlds estrogen focused on him, we think its time to mention some of his out-of-the-pool activities. Continue reading

Interview: Steven Jackson

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of interviewing NFL great Steven Jackson, of the  St. Louis Rams about his charity work for an exclusive interview on Look to the Stars.

Without question, Jackson IS one of the good guys. He is passionate and sincere about helping kids stay in school while encouraging them to love and respect each other.

There are  lot of athletes who can talk-the-talk, but I’m finding very few actually back it up like Jackson does. He is a stellar example of how all our ‘heroes-celebrities-athletes’ can add substance to the lives of others without letting fame get to their head.

I encourage you to read the interview, it shatters any ‘dumb-jock’ notion you may have about NFL players, cuz what we have here is a (cue-music) mighty-mighty-fine man.

As always, thanks for reading~

Tyson Chandler Bares All for ESPN’s ‘Body Issue’ Cover

NBA Champion and 2012 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler of the New York Knicks uncovered on the cover of ESPN’s 4th annual “Body Issue”.

“It’s “a chance for the ‘average person’ take a good look at athletes bodies and why we are able to do the things we do,” he told the magazine. “I wanted people to look at my body and see why I’m able to do the things I do on the court. Also, it’s a very artistic shoot, and seeing that in past issues made me want to do it.”

In reference to his charity work, he writes:

‘Hard work and determination have brought me a lot of blessings in my life, so I like to give thanks by giving back to the less fortunate in the community. Getting involved is important in so many ways – it gives you a stake in the community, a sense of purpose, humbles you, and most importantly, helps those who need it most…Because giving back is so important to me, I’m going to dedicate this section to letting you all know the latest causes I’m working on and give you details on how to get involved..and, if there’s a cause that matters most to you, I want to hear about it, so let me know in the comments section below.’

That was on April 20, 2102…this lack of updates makes me believe a spanking is in order?

Tony Hawk on Cupcake Wars

The king of all things skateboarding, Tony Hawk, will be appearing on a upcoming episode of the Food Network’s program Cupcake Wars for a special event for Stand Up for Skateparks.

While we don’t think it’s likely that Hawks gazillion fans watch Cupcake Wars, we do and were wondering what kind of cupcake you’d create for Hawk?

Our creation would be The Tony Hawk Skate-Cake: vanilla cake with a mojito-cayenne cream center topped with chocolate cream, mini marshmallows set atop a tiny edible skateboard.

Be sure to tune in to check him out on Sunday, July 8th at 8pm/7c.
