Usain Bolt’s Charity Work Not Lost in Sir Richard Branson’s Beard
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has teamed up with smoking-hot billionaire Sir Richard Branson in an epic battle of ‘Who is Richard Branson’.
In a series of ads promoting Virgins ‘lightening fast’ broadband service, Bolt attempts a laughable impression of Branson before the real thing interrupts him. It’s cute, funny, and a well placed partnership which sees Bolt sporting Branson’s trademark silver-beard.
A source on the set for filming said: ‘Usain was great fun to be around – he kept the whole crew laughing between takes by showing off his break-dancing and robot dance moves…he even took the whole crew to his own Tracks & Records restaurant one night and treated them all to dinner. Sir Richard and Usain really hit it off. There was a lot of mutual respect for what they have both achieved.’ (source)
Also of note, in 2008, Bolt took the stage with Paolo Nutini in Beijing, on behalf of Puma, where they covered the Bob Marley classic ‘One Love’…this morning it seems that Bolt might be pursuing a career in music? Bolt informed fans via Twitter that he was in the studio ‘free-styling’ and wonders if he ‘just made a hit.’
Bolt also attended the Pan Caribbean Sigma Corporate Run (Jan 18, 2012) which celebrates Jamaica’s 50th anniversary of Independence and aims to raise a staggering amount of $50M in aid of Chain of Hope- Jamaica’s commitment to the cardiac program at the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Bolt has asked fans for support: “At the sigma corporate run launch. Show ur support and text 4442498 and pledge $50 JA” he Tweeted.
Donovan Perkins, president and CEO of PanCaribbean Financial Services Limited, explained the rationale behind choosing this year’s beneficiary: “Pan Caribbean’s goal is to help play a role in developing a sustainable pediatric cardiac program at the Bustamante Hospital for Children,” Perkins shared while speaking at the Corporate Run’s launch at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
“This project will provide treatment for children through the development and acquisition of vital medical equipment to support the efforts of and train skilled cardiac personnel including cardiologists, anesthetists, nurses and bio-medical engineers,” he added.
