Premier League Captains Auction Armbands for Charity
Premier League captains including John Terry, Steven Gerrard and Cesc Fabregas have signed their sexy ‘captain armbands’ for an on-line auction to benefit two worthy causes, the Willow Foundation and the Steve Bernard Foundation.
In total, 21 Premier League captains’ armbands have been signed, framed and put up for auction beginning November 12 through the 22. If you are a soccer fan, you probably know the ‘armbands’ aren’t something you can buy or convince a hottie to toss to you after a game- so this auction speaks to a unique fan base that salivates at the idea of owning something that may have been worn on the pitch…
Bob Wilson, co-founder of the Willow Foundation: “These armbands are a real one-off and I’m sure that any football fan would be thrilled to own one. Buying just one armband in this auction will not only be a fantastic purchase of unique sporting memorabilia but will also mean a great deal to the people who will benefit from a special day during a really tough time of their life.”
Director of the Steve Bernard Foundation, Tony Bernard said “We are delighted to be working in conjunction with the Willow Foundation on this fantastic memorabilia auction. It is extremely fitting that these truly unique items will help to enhance the lives of some very special people”
An armband from each of the 21 Premier League club captains are up for grabs, as well as a selection of armbands from Championship captains. Each signed armband is framed alongside a picture of the captain in action. For more info and to view all the armbands, visit the Willow Foundation HERE. About the Willow Foundation: The Willow Foundation is the only charity of its kind providing special days for 16 to 40 year olds. Special days aim to provide young adults living with life-threatening conditions a chance to escape the pressures of their daily routine and share quality time with family and/or friends. Every special day is of the young person’s choosing - it could involve fulfilling a lifelong dream or it could simply offer an opportunity to bring some much needed normality back into their lives. To date the charity has organized and funded special days for young adults living with a wide range of serious conditions including: cancer, motor neuron disease, cystic fibrosis, Huntingdon’s, organ failure and multiple sclerosis.
The Steve Bernard Foundation was formed following the tragic passing of the affectionately named Stevie in November 2005. The Foundation aims to mirror Stevie’s desire to bring sporting happiness to those around him. Since its formation, the Foundation has supported more than 40 projects across 16 different sports.
