‘O Mighty Isis’ Reunites For Benefit Concert
O Mighty Isis Reunites For Benefit Concert
If you lived in Palo Alto in the late 80’s, ‘O Mighty Isis’ is most likely part of your vocabulary. The band formed in 1988 when a group of local hotties decided to drop a funk bomb on the outskirts of Palo Alto and form ‘O Mighty Isis. It’s been a while, but with a little prodding, O Mighty Isis has decided to reunite for a special show on August 21, 2009…If you weren’t lucky enough to catch the band back then, now’s your chance to experience the “funktastic voyage” for yourself.
The original band will all be there to funk it up: Jeff Davidson drums and band creator, Dave Lee vocals, Mike Hogan vocals, Kenneth Fleming vocals, Tim Bailey saxophone, Tom Maitland trumpet, Rasheed De La trumpet and drums, Winton Reynolds keyboards, Ed Landels percussion, Pete Ruotolo Guitar, Greg Kehret Bass…and if that’s not enough for you, there will be 2 of the best DJ’s in the mix: Dave Madix, a well known DJ from San Francisco and import Pete Pamf who’s been spinning in some of Europe’s hottest clubs…the boys will be mixing the best of the old school funk, newest crunk and essential club favorites. Tickets: $20 pre-sale, $25 at the door.
So what does this have to do with athletes, celebrities or charity? A lot! First of all, the show will help two incredible organizations. A benefit raffle prior to the concert will raise money for the Allen Temple AIDS Ministry in Oakland/Zimbabwe which provides healthcare and medication for AIDS patients and orphans in Africa; and the Mural Music & Arts Project in East Palo Alto, a local art/music program that is in dire need of funds.
So who’s gonna be there? Unfortunately, I’m sworn to secrecy and can’t name the invited celebrities and athletes expected to attend…but I can tell you that those ‘in the loop’ are snatching up tickets faster than Ricky Henderson steals bases. From what I know, many, many Northern Cali athletes are huge ‘O Mighty Isis’ fans…again, mums the word on who’s gonna be there, but I for one will be front and center so take that as your first clue.
Check out the delicious funk of ‘O Mighty Isis’ on their MySpace page…join the Reunion Show Facebook Group or better yet, get all the info HERE on how to get your ticket and perhaps win yourself a VIP table with bottle service.
As always, thanks for reading. Delinda@athlebrities.com
