CARLOS MOYA: CROATIAN OPEN

Brace yourselves for what I’m about to say. My libido has been torn between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Moya for some time, but now, I’ve decided that Carlos Moya is indeed the champion of all things hot on the tennis court (and off). I’m not dissing our little tapa, it’s just while doing my research, Moya caused more estrogen-induced seizures than Rafa. Both beasts hail from Spain, but Moya’s got that perfectly inked up bicep and a wicked backhand that I’d like to see land on my lap. Love to the man I need Mo-Mo-Moya of for his mouthwatering victory at the Croatian Open where he defeated Andrei Pavel 6-4, 6-2 for his 5th Croatian Title. Yummy.
CAMILO VILLEGAS: CANADIAN OPEN: -10

Yes. Finally some action…our delicious feline finished in 28th at the US Bank Championships in Milwaukee last week and this weekend, I was tickled pink to see our beast make the cut at the Canadian Open and finish with 10-under to place (T)5th.
HUNTER MAHAN

The Athlebrity gods have smiled upon us and dropped a little bit of heaven onto the greens. His name is Hunter Mahan and in my book, he’s giving Villegas a run for his money. Last week at the Canadian Open, the beast became the first PGA Tour player this season to make three eagles during a round. He even holed out twice from the fairway and matched the lowest round in the event’s history with an insane nine-under-par 62. With that fabulous round, Mahan joined the 62 Club; an honour shared by only 3 others. (Leonard Thompson, Andy Bean, Greg Norman). “It’s not about shooting a great round, it’s about trying to play good for a tournament,” Mahan said. I personally would have enjoyed seeing Mahan become a member of the under 69 club, but with a 5th place (–12) finish I can wait till the next event before letting my inner cougar attack.
TONY STEWART CUSSING
Tony Stewart may have won the Allstate 400, but I suspect he and ESPN might be facing some fines? My innocent ears were oh-so-offended while watching his victory speech after the race on ESPN. Is it just me, or did Tony Stewart say bullshit? Such eloquance and class from NASCAR…
NIKE, ADIDAS, UPPER DECK SHELF MICHAEL VICK
I wanna take a minute to thank all of you who called Nike and the NFL to bitch about Michael Vick. I wanna thank all the protesters. I wanna thank Nike for suspending its contract with Vick- I can now resume buying my Nike gear without guilt, and thanks to Reebok for taking the unprecedented step of stopping all sales of his jersey. Thanks to another trading card company, Donruss, who announced they were pulling Vick’s likeness from any new packs. And finally, love to Upper Deck for removing all Michael Vick autographed memorabilia from its online store and yanking his trading card from the NFL sets scheduled to be released in October. “Of course we appreciate the fact that Mr. Vick is innocent until proven guilty, but the allegations alone have resulted in an outpouring of very strong emotion within our organization and among the collecting community,” Kerri Stockholm, Upper Deck’s director of marketing, said in a statement. “We believe collectors will agree and support this decision as being the best course of action for our football business.”
And on another note, I wanna thank Michael Vick himself for bringing to light the abhorrent practice of dog fighting. He’s done a phenomenal job of exposing the dark underbelly that some claim is a cultural ‘thing’. (Slavery was once an accepted practice in the South too, wasn’t it?) Maybe now we can abolish dog fighting, or in the least make one moron think twice before staging a fight. Power to the people! (Now if we could only join together and get that chimp impeached…)
IRAQI SOCCER UPDATE

Authorities begged the people to put down their guns, but despite the request, shots were fired and I’m pretty sure I could hear the celebratory AK-47 gunfire from here. Iraq beat Saudi Arabia to capture its first Asian Cup Sunday, which led to at least 4 more deaths and god-knows-how many injures. And in a very Pakistani-cricket sorta way, coach Jorvan Vieira, just minutes after the victory, declared he was quitting and going back to the beaches of Brazil. “Absolutely (I am quitting),” he said. Can’t say I blame him, but gotta give him credit for hanging in there since May and leading his team to victory.

In a world gone crazy, its kills me that this incredible victory has been marred by violence. “Those heroes have shown the real Iraq. They have done something useful for the people as opposed to the politicians and lawmakers who are stealing or killing each other. The players have made us proud, not the greedy politicians.” said a policeman in Baghdad…I couldn’t have said it better myself. Congratulations to all the players for this fantastic victory. (Yes, I did just congratulate Iraq.) Im not gonna get too political here, but I kinda share the sentiments of team captain Younis Mahmoud, who took this opportunity to call for the US to withdraw its troops from his nation. “I want America to go out,” he said. “Today, tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, but out. I wish the American people didn’t invade Iraq and, hopefully, it will be over soon.” (Yahoo sports)

As always, thanks for reading. Delinda
