Danny Way drops it hard, Bode the Mouth Miller documentary show, cool postage stamps, and a hot NHL campaign.
DANNY WAY: TOO HOT FOR WHEELS
Give this man some wings. Yesterday, Danny Way, internationally renowned hottie and pro skateboarder smashed the “Bomb Drop” (1) world record by freefalling 28 feet from the Fender Stratocaster guitar atop the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas onto a ramp below. (The event was delayed one day due to weather.)

Thousands of lucky fans watched Way execute the drop off the guitar onto a ramp built by John Tyson and his team at VP Industries. The guitar, originally estimated at 66 feet tall, stands 12 feet higher than original estimates at 78′. Hot skateboarding vert professionals Bob Burnquist, Pierre-Luc “PLG” Gagnon, Rune Glifberg, Tony Magnusson, Mathias Ringstrom, and Jake Brown also made appearances at the Hard Rock on April 6 to ride the MegaRamp.

“Despite the variables in the ramp design, once again, we managed to make this challenge happen,” said Danny Way. “This event demonstrates the continued progression of skateboarding.” Danny has recently been honored with a nomination for World Alternative Sportsperson of the Year for the 2006 annual Laureus World Sports Awards which will be held May 21-23 in Barcelona. The Laureus World Sports Awards honor achievements to the world’s hottest athletes with a worldwide television audience of one billion. Way has secured a strong foothold in the Athlebrity world. WANNA MAIL A MALE ATHLETE?
Today, the U.S. Postal Service will unveil a new 39-cent Sugar Ray Robinson stamp at Madison Square Garden that is “designed to resemble a vintage fight poster” of the ‘40s and ‘50s. I would have chosen my grandfather for the postage stamp- George Mericka, in the pants, was one of the best fighters of his decade.

He once fought on the same fight card as Joe Lewis, and his record was 11-0, unfortunately, he couldn’t get anyone to fight him after that, otherwise, I suspect George would be on a stamp.
I THOUGHT WE WERE DONE WITH BODE THE MOUTH MILLER?
Worldsport.hd, a VOOM HD Network dedicated to global sports coverage, will premiere an “up-close and candid” special on the mouth, Bode Miller. This over-hyped and once hot athlete has had a skiing career plagued by shocking losses, and whose seemingly carefree attitude has earned him “A-hole” headlines across the globe. “Talent and Truth” features exclusive interviews with Miller, while he is sober. Talent and Truth also promises to have captured all the drama during the 2006 Torino Olympics, where the hopes of the U.S. Olympic team were flushed down the toilet when the Mouth drank too much and fell face first into hell. Talent and Truth: The Bode Miller Story premieres on April 10th at 8pm ET on WORLDPORT HD, available nationally on the DISH Network, Channel 9477.

Some awesome quotes from the Bode the Mouth which clearly illustrate that this show is a bad idea…it’s like giving Ron Artest his own talk show.
Miller on Miller: “What I feel obligated to do is to make the effort on this end. That’s all I care about…My responsibility is to say what I think the way that I think…The rest is sort of up to everybody else.”

Miller on partying at the Olympics: “…I don’t let other people define how I’m running my situation. I look at it from the objective perspective. I step back and say, what’s the most kick ass time I can have here. Is it gonna’ be if I sit in my motor home all day and all night and get really good food, tons of sleep, tons of rest…all that stuff? Or am I gonna’ have more fun” Is it going to be a kick ass experience if I go out and rage it up, and party and come out one medal, or two medals or three medals or no goals or no medals at all? You gotta’ think of the whole picture. Obviously, now I have no medals.” You got no pasta either Bode. This morning, one of Bode Miller’s principal sponsors announced that they are dumping the Mouth. Barilla pasta said buh-bye to Bode and has decided not to renew its contract with the Mensa reject. “The program with Bode was done,” Barilla representative Fabio Fortina said. “Last week we wrote to Bode’s agent Lowell Taub and said we would not pick up the option.”
